Annie is an innovative investor, entrepreneur, and executive with a background in venture capital, royalty finance, and lending. She adds value to the organizations she works with by developing effective growth strategies and solving complex business challenges by focusing on the data and what's possible. She is known as an exceptional networker, and is driven by bringing partners together towards successful transactions and long-term partnerships.
Annie is the Chief Investment Officer of Grand Challenges Canada and the Managing Director of the EWEC Innovation Marketplace, an initiative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Grand Challenges Canada, NORAD, and USAID. Annie is also the Managing Partner of Cross-Border Impact Ventures, a new impact investment firm partnered with Grand Challenges Canada to launch a health technology venture capital fund focused on women’s and children’s health. She is an advisor to The Big Push, an accelerator for women-led tech companies leveraging a work for equity business model, and to Silver Maple Ventures, a Toronto-Based fintech company offering a full suite of solutions for private placements in early and growth stage companies.
Prior to entering the impact investment sector, Annie spent most of her career investing in private companies as a venture capitalist and lender across multiple sectors and stages. Annie obtained her PhD in Management from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, is a CFA Charterholder and holds the ICD.D designation. She also earned a Master's Degree in Business Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Chemistry from Mount Allison University.
